Who we are
Indy.Local.Live started with a simple belief: music means more when it’s personal.
I’ve seen some of the biggest shows in the world — U2 at Croke Park, the Foo Fighters in London and Seattle, Coldplay at the Rose Bowl, Metallica in arenas, Tyler Childers in a sold-out stadium.
Those shows were incredible.
But the moments that shaped me happened in small rooms.
On a trip to Ireland, we skipped the tourist checklist and searched for the best local venues in every city — Galway, Cork, Kilkenny, Dingle. We stayed within walking distance. We packed into intimate spaces to hear punk bands, traditional Irish players, and fusion artists. We sat with strangers. We talked between sets. Community wasn’t optional — it was part of the experience.
That’s when it clicked: music hits differently when you can see the artist’s eyes. When you can watch their hands work the strings. When the room feels shared.
I’ve felt that same magic here in Indianapolis at places like HI-FI. One weeknight, about 300 of us watched Drayton Farley play. After the show, I walked up to the merch table, thanked him, and asked, “Man, that was amazing — can I get a hug?” He smiled and said yes.
That moment says everything.
Not access. Not status. Connection.
That’s the heart of Indy.Local.Live.
This platform exists to introduce local Indianapolis artists to the community in a deeper way. Not just show dates — stories. Not just venues — atmosphere. Not just music — meaning.
Right now, it’s one person building this. Over time, it will grow. But the mission won’t change:
Help Indianapolis know its own music scene.
Build real relationships between bands and audiences.
Make live music feel personal again.
Because when you know the story, the music stays with you.
