Mae Brave and Strong

The music community coming together to support a family dealing with unimaginable loss.

A chance to help…

That the local Indianapolis music community is resurging, growing, and vibrant is no longer a question.

That’s a fact.

Across the city, venues big and small…bands established and emerging…are finding a footing.

An unexpected by-product of getting to know a lot of these bands has been getting to know the individual artists in these bands…many of whom I can now call friends.

What I have learned, to a person…these are real, good people with big dreams and bigger hearts.

More often than not, they are leading with their hearts…and this is where you come in.

This Saturday, October 3 at the Dry Docks at Cataract Lake, nine of these bands are doing a benefit concert for Annalise “Mae” Ward.

Six-year-old Mae was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer, a cancer requiring Mae to endure extensive treatment including scans, radiation and chemotherapy.

Recently, Mae’s treatment plan changed, requiring weekly lab visits and bi-weekly chemotherapy…and an increased financial strain on the family.

Mae’s mom described her as a “Warrior Princess.”

This weekend’s benefit show was supposed to help support the family with the cost of that treatment.

Sadly, the nature of the show has changed.

Her mom just shared…“Sweet little Mae just gained her angel wings.”

The Warrior Princess fought until the end.

The PICK-A-PALOOZA event still goes on.

The bands will still be there, helping the family deal with the costs of treatment…and now a funeral.

Bands begin at 11am at The Dry Docks at Cataract Lake. $10 cover charge.

If you can’t make it to the show…a GoFundMe page has been set up Through Butterfly Dreams.

Local bands supporting the local community.

That’s what it’s all about
